THE KEY THEMES

Our key themes this year are featured in four panels with a workshop-like atmosphere surrounding our main topic: the financing of games:

• M&A:
  The workshop will give an overview of the M&A process and what each party is or should be looking for during an acquisition. We also provide some examples of seccessful or difficult mergers and acquisitions and how to make them go more smoothly or whether this route is actually interesting at all for your company.


• Equity:
  With the help of venture capital and other equity companies have the chance to grow rapidly and to tackle new markets. But how does this collaboration of VC and game developers work? Which possibilities are there to obtain such funding? Here companies with asuccessful history of growing through venture capital will have a chance totell their story, but also investors will have their share in sharing their knowledge, as well as those middle men, who bring both together.


• Crowdsourcing:
  Especially smaller companies and so-called independent developers have problems inobtaining funds for their projects with most of the times smaller budgets. But there seems to be a new way: after the success story of Minecraft crowd funding is topic of the day. In our workshop wewill look at the inner workings of this pre-financing through small payments byfans and other interested people of the game projects. In which way should a developer tackle such a financing option, where are the chances, and where the boundaries?


• Market Analysis:
  The gaming industry works in one of the most dynamic markets whatsoever. Which trends will become established? What did customers like, what did they dismiss? How to address new customer groups? Renowned researchers and experienced analysts give insights into the facts and figures of current market developments.
